The Curriculum Architects: Exploring Individual Contributions to Educational Innovation
Keywords:
Curriculum architects, educational innovation, individual contributionsAbstract
Curriculum development is considered a process in which numerous individuals from various institutions and government entities are involved. However, despite the centrality of organizational structures and partnerships in curriculum development processes, the role of individual curriculum architects has not received adequate attention. Hence, this case study explored the experiences of individual curriculum architects, namely educators, policymakers, and reform advocates, focusing on the impact of their contributions to student learning engagement and their strategies for collaboration within institutional and policy frameworks. Findings showed the importance of identifying pragmatic efforts and strong leadership to deduce more progressive curricula, which enhance students’ engagement, critical thinking, and flexibility. The study concluded that individual curriculum architects play a pivotal role in shaping and modifying educational curricula, highlighting their influence within the broader collaborative process of institutions and government entities in curriculum development. This paper recommends that institutions support their curriculum architects through enhanced professional development programs and promote cross-stakeholder synergistic partnerships adapted leadership and organizational flexibility in curriculum development.
