This research revolves on the use of traditional and Cooperative Learning methods in teaching Filipino 9 - Asian Literature at Zamboanguita Science High School. It aims to determine the effectiveness of these mentioned methods on students' learning in the Filipino subject. The research underwent Methodological Triangulation with pre-test and post-test, actual classroom observation, and Focus Group Discussion. The respondents were twenty-nine (29) students in the experimental group and twenty-eight (28) students in the control group. The study found no significant difference between the pretest results of the lessons of the respondents in both groups. However, there was a significant difference between the post-test results of the respondents' lessons. It was found that before the introduction of the Cooperative Learning method to the experimental group, the level of knowledge of the respondents from both groups was not far apart. It was also shown that the use of the Cooperative Learning method cannot be applied to all lessons. There are only specific lessons where this method is effective.
