Abstract

This systematic literature review explores the implementation and impact of digital leadership in education across various global contexts, focusing on the role of educational leaders in integrating digital technologies to enhance learning and institutional transformation. Digital leadership is essential for adapting to the rapidly evolving technological landscape, particularly in light of advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), big data, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The review highlights the crucial role of digital leadership, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, which accelerated the shift to online and hybrid learning models. The study examines how educational leaders navigate challenges such as technological infrastructure limitations, policy frameworks, and cultural contexts, which vary significantly across countries. While some nations have successfully integrated digital leadership through robust infrastructures and supportive government policies, others face considerable barriers, including limited access to technology and resistance to change. The review identifies both the benefits and obstacles of digital leadership, showing that its effective implementation can lead to improved educational practices, personalized learning, and enhanced student outcomes. The findings suggest that the success of digital transformation relies not only on technological investment but also on strategic leadership, professional development, and fostering a culture of innovation. The study concludes by emphasizing the need for future research on the long-term impact of digital leadership on educational systems, providing valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and school leaders in navigating digital challenges.
