This study examines the MATATAG Curriculum's effectiveness in preparing Filipino learners for the 21st century by evaluating its alignment with key educational priorities. The curriculum, introduced by the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines, emphasizes critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity—skills essential for navigating modern challenges. It integrates these competencies within a framework that also focuses on character education and citizenship, reflecting DepEd's core values of Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan, and Makabansa. Additionally, the MATATAG Curriculum promotes cultural literacy by incorporating indigenous knowledge and fostering an appreciation for global diversity. Through analysis of curriculum documents and instructional practices, this study highlights the curriculum’s strengths in developing essential 21st-century skills and its commitment to holistic student development. It also identifies areas for potential enhancement, such as increased technology integration, student-centered approaches, and improved assessment methods. Overall, the MATATAG Curriculum represents a progressive step in educational reform, aiming to equip students with the skills, values, and cultural competence needed to thrive in a complex and interconnected world. The findings contribute to the discourse on effective curriculum design and offer insights for future improvements in educational practice in the Philippines.
