Abstract

This study examines the lived experiences of mothers raising children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), focusing on how cultural and societal factors influence their parenting. Through a systematic review of existing literature, the study identifies key challenges faced by these mothers, including social stigma, isolation, and limited access to resources. In cultures with low awareness of ASD, mothers often encounter heightened stress and inadequate support systems, exacerbating the difficulties of parenting a child with ASD. Conversely, cultures with greater acceptance and understanding of autism provide more supportive environments, positively impacting both mothers and their children. The study also highlights the role of societal attitudes toward disability in shaping the availability and accessibility of essential services. The findings underscore the need for culturally sensitive interventions and policies that address these unique challenges, advocating for systemic reforms to ensure equitable access to support across different cultural contexts. By enhancing awareness and reducing stigma, society can better support families affected by ASD, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and empathetic environment. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on ASD and underscores the importance of addressing cultural and societal factors in supporting families raising children with autism.
