Experiences of the Academic Achievers with Parental Involvement: A Transcendental Phenomenology Study

Research overwhelmingly showed that parental involvement in their children’s learning positively affects child’s academic performance. This study explored the experiences of academic achievers with parental involvement. A Transcendental Phenomenology design was employed since understanding human experiences from the perspective of the people who are living them. This method helps researchers uncover the essence of human experiences, shedding light on the underlying meanings and structures that shape our understanding of the world. It helps researchers explore the academic achievers’ experiences with parental involvement. The results revealed majority answered having parental involvement in academic field motivates them to take education more seriously. It was further revealed that when parents are interacting with their children helps them to be more motivated to do schoolwork. This study provides critical information for parents, principals, teachers, and policy makers attempting to implement parents’ involvement initiatives, as well as implications for further research.
