Abstract

This study delves into the lived experiences of secondary teachers in teaching the 21st-century learners, focusing on challenges and opportunities encountered in the modern educational landscape. The background of the research highlights the changing dynamics in education due to technological advancements and the diverse learning needs of students. The research problem centers on understanding the learning styles of 21st-century learners and effective strategies for teaching them. The aim is to explore the experiences of secondary teachers at Canduman National High School in Mandaue City, Philippines, in handling these learners. the methodology involves a qualitative descriptive phenomenological research design, utilizing non-probability sampling and non-structured guide questions for data collection. The findings reveal key themes such as challenges in dealing with modern learners, the impact of technology on learning, the importance of collaboration, and effective teaching strategies. The implications of the study emphasize the need for teachers to adapt various approaches, leverage technology, and promote equitable education. Recommendations include promoting student-centered approaches, responsible technology use, professional development, and fostering 21st-century skills. Overall, the study contributes to understanding the experiences of teachers in educating modern learners and provides insights for improving educational practices.
