Abstract

The study aimed to determine the employability of BEED graduates from Mandaue City College. This study used a quantitative and descriptive methodology to interpret the collected data. Stratified convenient sampling was utilized to ensure representative subject selection. The survey, administered via Google Forms, utilized frequency distribution, simple percentage, and weighted mean for data analysis. Key findings reveal a predominance of young, female respondents with a high involvement as observed in 2023. Motivations for pursuing teaching range from personal passion to familial influence and LET passing rates reflecting preparedness for teaching roles. It is clear from graduates' post-college training and diverse career paths beyond traditional teaching roles that BEED graduates are adaptable. It emphasizes the importance of LET passing rates as indicators of teaching readiness. Given the diversity of career paths pursued by BEED graduates, it emphasizes the importance of tailored career guidance and support services. Exploring employability skills through the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) model adopted by Kurt (2019) reveals varying proficiency levels in technology and pedagogy, with strengths in literacy-related technologies and pedagogical skills. The study emphasizes the value of developing graduates' technical and soft skills to increase their employability and efficacy in teaching professions, and it recommends that the institution carry out assessments to guarantee skill development before graduation. Drawing from the Human Capital Theory of Cornillez et al. (2021) and the TPACK model of Kurt (2019), it is evident that skill acquisition expands employment opportunities for graduates. By implementing the recommended tool, the institution can produce internationally competitive graduates.
