Abstract

Investigating the level of parental involvement has the potential of creating more inclusive, effective, and community-driven education programs in far-flung communities in Negros Island. In this premise, this study aimed to determine the level of parental involvement in the implementation of SBM-WinS program in a school somewhere in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental. Data needed for this descriptive paper was collected from 111 public elementary school parents from Kindergarten to Grade 4 using an instrument that has hurdled the rigorous tests of validity and reliability. The analyses that followed showed a very high level of parental involvement in the SBM-WinS Program measured from the areas of water and sanitation, hygiene and deworming, and health education. Moreover, no significant difference was found in the level of parental involvement in the said program based on the same three areas above when grouped according to age and number of children. The opposite, however, came out when the same respondents were grouped according to family income. Lastly, age and family income showed no significant difference in the level of parental involvement in the SBM-WinS program based on health education, but a significant difference was found based on the number of children. The findings of the study underscore the vital role of active parental involvement both at school and at home in ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of children.
