Optimizing Offsite Payment Systems: Understanding Client Preferences and Overcoming Barriers at Foundation University

This study examines the preferences and barriers clients encounter when using offsite payment systems at Foundation University (FU). The descriptive correlational research method was employed with a sample size of 580 clients, utilizing a validated self-made survey questionnaire for data collection. Statistical treatments such as Percent, Mean, Spearman's Rank Order Correlation, and Chi-Square Test were applied to analyze the data. Findings reveal that a substantial portion of clients prefers on-site payment methods, with only a smaller group utilizing offsite payments. Among the offsite methods, MLhuillier Over-the-Counter stands out as the most frequently used. Key factors influencing clients' positive perception of offsite payment systems include compatibility, confidence, ease of use, flexibility, reliability, user experience, and efficiency, all of which received high agreement scores. Conversely, significant barriers to adopting offsite payments include perceived security risks, personal preferences for face-to-face transactions, lack of awareness, digital literacy, and posting-integration issues. Interestingly, demographic variables such as age, sex, geographic location, and educational attainment did not significantly affect clients’ perceptions of these barriers. The study highlights that while clients generally appreciate the usability and efficiency of offsite payment systems, concerns around security, personal preferences, and digital literacy pose notable challenges. Addressing these barriers through improved awareness, trust-building measures, and user support could enhance the adoption of offsite payments.
