Abstract

Professional conduct is a foundation for integrity, accountability, and excellence in public service. This study aimed to assess the awareness and practices of Land Transportation Office (LTO) personnel regarding professional conduct in a province in Central Philippines. Using a descriptive research design, data were gathered from 90 LTO employees through a validated and reliability-tested researcher-made instrument. The study focused on dimensions such as integrity, accountability, commitment to public interest, and professionalism. The results revealed that the respondents demonstrated a high level of awareness and generally favorable practices aligned with professional conduct. Findings also indicated consistency across demographic variables such as age, sex, and years in service, with minimal differences. However, certain aspects of practice, particularly those related to customer relations and ethical decision-making, were found to be areas for improvement. Based on the findings, the study recommends the implementation of continuous professional development programs, regular value-based seminars, and a localized code of conduct orientation to strengthen both awareness and the consistent application of professional behavior in public service.
