Abstract

This study examines the intricate landscape of school leadership in the Philippines through an integrative literature review, encompassing historical, policy, and cultural dimensions. Drawing on a range of scholarly sources, the study elucidates the enduring influence of colonial legacies, the implications of contemporary policy frameworks such as Republic Act 9155, and the profound impact of Filipino cultural values and kinship systems on leadership practices within educational institutions. Despite challenges such as corruption and ethical leadership deficits, opportunities exist for fostering transformative leadership approaches that harness the strengths of Filipino cultural values to promote educational equity and excellence. By embracing inclusivity, participatory decision-making, and grassroots engagement, school leaders can navigate the complexities of the Filipino educational landscape and play a pivotal role in advancing the quality and accessibility of education for all students. This study underscores the importance of culturally responsive leadership development initiatives tailored to the unique socio-cultural context of the Philippines.
