Abstract

This systematic literature review examines current trends in literacy and numeracy research among elementary school students. Through a comprehensive analysis of existing literature, key themes emerged, including the integration of technology in instruction, emphasis on inclusive education practices, recognition of interdisciplinary approaches, and persistent disparities in student achievement.  The review highlights the growing use of digital tools, multimedia resources, and educational software to enhance student engagement and personalize learning experiences. Additionally, there is an increasing emphasis on accommodating diverse learner populations through strategies such as differentiated instruction, universal design for learning (UDL), and culturally responsive teaching.  Furthermore, researchers underscore the importance of integrating literacy and numeracy instruction across content areas, particularly in interdisciplinary contexts like STEM education. Despite advancements, persistent disparities in student achievement remain, particularly among marginalized communities. Addressing these disparities requires targeted interventions, equitable access to resources, and culturally responsive pedagogy.  Overall, this review provides valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and community stakeholders seeking to promote inclusive and equitable literacy and numeracy instruction for elementary school students.
