Abstract

This comprehensive study explores state-of-the-art remediation strategies aimed at advancing reading  skills, with a particular focus on individuals facing reading difficulties, especially dyslexia. Through  an integrative review of 150 relevant studies, the research analyzes a wide range of interventions,  cognitive profiles, and neuroimaging findings to provide valuable insights for educators, researchers,  and policymakers. The study reveals the effectiveness of technology-based interventions, including  computerized reading programs, tablet applications, and assistive technologies, in improving reading  proficiency. These interventions capitalize on the engaging and personalized nature of technology,  offering individualized support for struggling learners to enhance reading comprehension and  fluency. Moreover, the review highlights the success of multisensory approaches such as the Orton Gillingham approach and the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing (LiPS) program. By engaging  multiple senses, these interventions strengthen letter-sound associations, phonemic awareness, and  decoding skills, providing a solid foundation for reading improvement. Neuroimaging findings offer  valuable insights into the neural underpinnings of reading difficulties. Reduced activation in brain  regions associated with phonological processing in individuals with dyslexia emphasizes the  importance of interventions targeting phonological awareness and related brain regions. The study  emphasizes the significance of early intervention through the Response to Intervention (RTI) model  and high-quality pre-school programs. Early identification of reading difficulties and personalized  interventions are critical for promoting reading success and preventing long-term academic  challenges. Recognizing significant individual differences in response to interventions, the study  underscores the importance of personalized approaches tailored to specific learners' needs.  Researchers are exploring the use of cognitive profiles and neural markers to predict treatment  response and customize interventions accordingly, further advancing the field of reading remediation.  The implications of this study are far-reaching. Educators can adopt evidence-based strategies to  create inclusive and engaging learning environments, fostering the academic success of struggling  readers. By leveraging technology and integrating multisensory techniques, educators can enhance  the reading proficiency of all learners. This study advocates for collaboration among stakeholders to  bridge the gap between research and practice. Policymakers can prioritize early intervention and  invest in high-quality pre-school programs, paving the way for an inclusive and equitable educational  landscape. This study provides a comprehensive overview of cutting-edge strategies for advancing  reading skills in individuals with reading difficulties. Through personalized interventions and  evidence-based practices, we can empower struggling readers to overcome challenges, promoting  literacy, and opening doors to a brighter and more promising future.
