Abstract

This study investigates numeracy improvement in educational contexts, emphasizing the crucial role of school leadership, diverse strategies for enhancement, systemic approaches to challenges, and the validation of a practical Numeracy Improvement Guide. The findings underscore the significance of effective leadership in setting expectations, fostering collaboration, and supporting teachers for successful numeracy initiatives. Diverse strategies, including real-world contextualization, problem-solving emphasis, visual representation utilization, and innovative teaching methods, provide a multifaceted approach to numeracy improvement. Addressing challenges systemically, such as curriculum misalignment, inadequate teacher training, and math anxiety, is identified as essential for sustained progress in numeracy education. The developed Numeracy Improvement Guide, validated by experts in education, mathematics, and school leadership, emerges as a valuable resource for implementing evidence-based strategies. The study contributes to the discourse on numeracy improvement, offering practical insights for educators and policymakers. As a tangible tool, the Numeracy Improvement Guide aims to bridge the gap between research findings and on-the-ground implementation, fostering more effective and sustainable approaches to enhance numeracy skills among students.
