Teachers’ Competence in Handling ICT-Based Instructions: Basis for an Intervention Plan

This study aimed to determine teachers' competence in handling ICT based instructions at Bacolod City National High School for the School Year 2020 – 2021 as basis for an intervention plan. The variables used in this study included age, sex, highest educational attainment and length of service. To measure the level of teacher's competence, these areas were considered: Online Learning Resources, Word Processing and Spreadsheet, and Multi-Media Platforms. The result of the study showed that the level of teachers' competence in handling ICT-Based Instructions in the following areas was as follows: it was high in online learning resources; it was high in the area of word processing and spreadsheets, and it was high in multi-media platforms. Among the three (3) areas, teachers were highly competent in utilizing various social media platforms and the least competent in utilizing online resources. When grouped according to the aforementioned variables, the study showed that the teachers are strongly and highly competent in utilizing various social media platforms and less highly competent in utilizing online resources.
